• SOS: the design is unique, creative and not much color is use. However, the layout is very complicated, including the direction as well.
• AFSP: even though the colors did not much with each other, however the layout, such as the banner or the navigation, is neatly design.

1. Information

• SOS: it provides information like 24 hours hotline number, application form to be

volunteer, about suicide, their resources, services and the annually statistics.

• AFSP: about AFSP, about suicide, research grants, educational resources, suicide prevention projects, surviving suicide loss and announce in the news.

1. Social tools

• SOS: the social tools will be the web sites.
• AFSP: websites, MySpace, Facebook, You Tube, Twitter and Flickr.

The SOS was formed in December 1^st, 1969. It is a non-profit and non-religion organization which provides emotional help for those suicides and befriend to those who are facing despair, discourage or distress. In addition, volunteers from SOS will also provide emotional support to those that are affected from the suicide around them. Besides that, the volunteers are well train through workshops and talks. And also, there is the annual Suicide Awareness week to give a general knowledge for the community.

The SOS also provide a 24/7 hotline, face to face counselling, email befriending, emergency squad, local outreach to suicide, survivors(LOSS) and healing Bridge, which is a support group for suicide survivors.

Besides that, in the SOS web site, it also provide information for the public on what to do and what not to do when their friends or their love ones are facing suicide.

In my opinion, I feel that this a good way for the public to know about suicide and what are the symptoms of suicide. If the public knows or recognise what should they do when they are facing a suicidal friend or kin, they can give them more of their love, care and concern. This way, the suicidal will feel that it’s not worth it to end his or her own life since there is someone caring for her.

Not only has it kept military records of citizens who fought for the country, but also those who migrate to the country. Besides that, they also preserved records that able to help the citizens claim their rights and entitlements.

In addition, they also provide education programs and public workshop for the public so that they are able to know how to use the archived records.

I find that the NARA-USA is quite a useful website to know more about the history. It also has an online exhibit which is quite convenient. One of the articles that were found in the online exhibit caught my attention. That article was about the influenza epidemic.

In the article, it states that the influenza epidemic is the deadly virus that kills an estimate of 50 million people, which the number of deaths was 2 times more during the World War 1. In addition, this virus can appear without warning and the victims can died within a few hours. Some of the victims died about a few days as their lungs were contain with fluid and they suffocated to death.

In his speech, he mention that working world is totally different what we experience in school. In school, the lectures will give you a lot of good advices about your web design. Even you didn’t do well in your website, the most the lecture will give u a fail grade.

However, when your in the working industry, you get a lot of critisim about your work from the client. And also, its a lot stressful in the working industry. In the working industry, not only you will get critisim from the client, also you will meet a lot of competitors in your company and other companies as well. Competition can be found everywhere in the working industry. 

In Lionel Chin speech, he mention the price of a web site can be very wide. Probably the starting amount will be a few hundred bucks to ten thousands bucks, or even more. There is a big difference between a hundred dollars web site and a ten thousand web site. A hundred dollars web site will be a normal web site with not much of the editing, but a ten thousand dollars web site will consists of a lot of editing of pictures and animation, flash and more.

He also mention that there are some difference between a freelance web designer and a web desiner working in the company.There will be a difference in the price of the web site and also a different demands from the client. The client will expect and demand more from the web designer working in the company than freelance web designer.

After listening to his speech, I feel that Lionel Chin has work very hard to pursue to be a web designer. From saving money during his ns, to getting lots of critisim and demands from the clients and to start his own business.

To me, I will always open my Facebook to play online games or to know who’s online and able to talk to the person if I haven’t been talking to him or her for ages. Therefore,  I feel that facebook chat is very important and Facebook really need to  improve on this. The problem with facebook chat is it always states ‘Chat is down for maintenance’ or even ‘We’re not be able to connect’. This have been happening for some time, which makes me very frustrating. Also,the speed of facebook chat is very slow. Whenever facebook chat delivers my message to the other party, it will always take about 1 to 2 minutes. Or even the other didn’t receive the message.

Why do I say facebook chat is very important? The reason is in the past there is one similar website as facebook is Friendster. However the cons of friendster is that there are limited application in it such as online games and chats. Since now facebook have facebook chat, it is very convenient to stay in touch. Hence, this is the importance of facebook chat.

Communication is very important. Not that I’m able to know my friend’s recent activities, but also to widen out my social networking and knowledge. For example, I can make friends from other countries by adding them in facebook and find out more about their country, cultural and history.

Therefore, facebook chat is very important.

After reading the article and looking at the picture, I feel really digusted. Recently, a lot of people are getting obese. One of the main reason was food temptation. In countries like America or Australia, there will be lot of food temptation such as fast food, deep fried food or even barberque food. And this temptation can be found everywhere, near the roadside, shopping malls or petrol stations. Because all these temptations can be found everywhere, people tend to ignore their health and kept eating all these food.

Also another main reason is not getting enough excercise. Nowadays most of the people don’t really exercise due to their work as they do not have the time or they are too tired to exercise after their work. If this continues, people will tend to become obese, which will lead to a lot of health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure and many more.

Therefore, a lot of oranisers are coming out with lots of events, such as marathon or healthy lifestyle fair, to increase the awareness of healthy lifestyle. In this way, not only the people can live healthily, they will be more alert in their work.
